Bowlers must be members of the BTBA and  registered members of a YBC that is registered with the NAYBC.

In order to qualify for Junior Team England you first have to qualify to bowl on the JTE Tour. Bowlers who have joined the tour may qualify for JTE points dependant upon their finishing position in each tournament. Only those bowlers that meet the qualifying requirements for the tour and who have obtained a JTE card can gain JTE points.

Bowlers must also have participated in the Junior National Championships and made themselves available for their County teams.

In June each year the top twenty boys and top twenty girls that have competed in the minimum number of tournaments are invited to participate in the Junior Triple Crown Trials for both the under 16 and under 18 teams. The top six boys and girls in each age group will be invited to represent England at the Triple Crown.

The top twenty age-eligible boys and top twenty age-eligible girls on the Ranking List at the end of the season, provided that they have competed in the required minimum number of events, then compete in a Masters competition from which the Junior Team England Squad are selected. The final team is then selected from this squad.

For 2008-2009 the number of players that will make up the Squad is eight boys and eight girls. The team going to the EYC 2009 in Malmo, Sweden will be four boys and four girls.
