Namco Funscape, Norwich - 8th/9th September 2012
 
The 2012 Masters took place at Namco Funscape in Norwich.  The top 20 boys and top 20 girls from the Junior Team England Ranking Tour qualify each year for the calendars most prestigious domestic event, for the Gerry Bugden Trophy.  Bowlers will bowl 5 games in the morning and 5 games in the afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday, totalling 20 games.  The championship is decided on total points awarded.

The Points System
Points are awarded on a per-game basis based on the bowlers score.  The highest scoring bowler receives 20 points, the second highest 19 points and so on down to the lowest scoring bowler who receives a single point.  The boys anf girls are scored independently, and at the end of the tournament we will have a boys Masters Champion and a girls Masters Champion.
 
The Oil
Saturday's oil pattern was Kegel's middle-road (4.2:1 @ 39ft).  For the afternoon the pattern volume was adjusted upwards slightly.  Sunday's first block has continued on the higher volume, although the afternoon's block will be made harder, with Kegel's Route 66 (4.3:1 @ 45ft). 

Block 1 Games 1 to 5 - Saturday 8th September
 
sq1b.jpgGeorge Ackerman (left) finished the block with a leading pinfall of 1,221 and 89 points.  After a fair 195 opening game, George continued to master the shot bowling games of 268, 264, 242 and 252.  Starting the block with the highest game 1, Steven Swaby followed his opening 248 with games including 247, 204 and 207 for a pinfall of 1,096 and 70.50 points and second place.  Brandon Roberts took third place with 1,056 (63.50 avg) with games of 236, 216 and 245.

Other noteable scores include Joseph Clarkson (225, 224, 222), Hadley Morgan (232,234, 244), Ashley Hunter (225, 224), Nick Harman (241), Russell Knight (227), Daniel Cook (223, 225), Elliot Crispe (222, 224), Curtis Hooper (225) and Brett Armer (222, 225).
 
sq1g.jpgFranchesca Plewis (left) heads the girls after block 1 with a pinfall of 1,117 and 92.0 points including games of 227, 245, 226 and 228.  Keira Reay, fresh from 6-Gold Medal success at the Junior Triple Crown is in second place with pinfall of 1,140 and 84.50 points.  Keira powered through games of 223, 236, 207, 226 and 248.  Third place with pinfall of 1,104 and 80.5 points, and games of 235, 248, 237 and 224 is Katie Tagg. 

Other noteable scores include Hannah Frost (224, 226), Lorna Scott (249), Rebecca Daley (225, 258), Joanna Hackett (225, 223), Megan Scott (221), Samantha Sargent (221, 234), Jenny Lofty (223) and Rebecca Spiking (226).
 
Block 2 Games 6 to 10 - Saturday 8th September

No change at the top. At the close of day one, and the second block George Ackerman continues to lead the boys with 2,242 pins over the 10 games (224.20) avg and  152.00 points.  Steven Swaby shot games of 238, 279 and 245 to retain second place with 2,220 pins (222.00 avg) and 141.50 points.  Brandon Roberts retained third place with games of 230, 237 and 238 to finish with a pinfall of 2,153 (215.30 avg) and 136.00 points.
 
Elsewhere noteable games were bowled by Russell Knight (237), Hadley Morgan (233), Sean Hussey (257, 239), Curtis Hooper (299), Elliot Crispe (232, 224), Brett Armer (246, 234), Daniel Cook (231), Gavin Cox (223) and Harry Langley (240, 220).
 
sq2g.jpgKiera Reay moved to the top of the girls after the second block adding a 225 game to the morning sscore to end day one on 152 points, with a pinfall of 2,192 (219.20 avg).  Franchesca Plewis added a 220 to the mornings scores but dropped one place to second with a pinfall of 2,075 (207.50 avg) and 154.5 points.  Hannah Frost moved into third place from fourth adding a 224 game for a pinfall of 2,095 (209.50 avg) and 153.5 points.
 
Other noteable scores include Joanna Hackett (267), Jenny Lofty (222), Samantha Sargent (245, 227),  Lorna Scott (232), Becca Luke (247) and Laura Lewis (224).

Block 3 Games 11 to 15 - Sunday 9th September
 
sq3b.jpgBrandon Roberts, Russell Knight, Elliot Crispe, Nick Harman, Benjamin Mellars and Daniel Cook are making themselves heard this morning putting on a great display of scoring. Brandon bowled games of 220, 249, 228 and 246 and 249 to move into first place on 3,345 pinfall (223 avg) and 221.00 points, with George Ackerman maintaining his second place adding a 231 game for 3,285 pinfall (219 avg) and 206.00 points.  Steven Swaby started light but picked-up his pace on games 13 and 14 (248, 218) to end the block in third with 3,233 pinfall (215 avg) and 189.00 points.
 
Other noteable scores include Russell Knight (236, 243, 235), Elliot Crispe (242, 234, 235), Hadley Morgan (246), Nick Harman (242, 259), Benjamin Mellars (243, 244, 249, 226, 224), Adam turnbull (246), Ashley Hunter 237, 276, Curtis Hooper (232), Sean Hussey (257, 251), Joseph Clarkson (245, 242), Daniel Cook (222, 225, 235), Gavin Cox (223), Harry Langley (255),Kieran Burden (277) and Adam Maxwell (255).

Franchesca Plewis added games of 238 and 234 to end the block in second place with 3,124 pinfall (208 avg) and 226.50 points, and Rebecca Daley moved-up to third place with games of 228, 237 and 256 for3.092 pinfall (206 avg) and 213.50 points.  Hannah Frost has sadly withdrawn through being unwell.
 
Other noteable scores include Samantha Sargent (231, 237), Jenny Lofty (223, 254, 224), Becca Luke (249), Rebecca Spiking (235) and Laura Lewis (243).

Block 4 Games 16 to 20 - Sunday 9th September

adding games of 247, 226, 237 to take first place with a pinfall of 4,448 (222.40 avg) and 299.00 points. George Ackerman started lightly with 171 but ontinued with games of 267, 254 and 234 to finish second with a pinfall 4,377 (218.85 avg) and 272.00 points.  Elliot Crispe added games of 244 to finish in third place with a 4,236 pinfall (211.80 avg) and 251.50 points.  Russell Knight ad moved-up into third place after game 19 with a 268 game. Unfortunately Daniel Cooke withdrew during game 17.
 
Other noteable scores included Hadley Morgan (224) Curtis Hooper (245, 234, 224),  Adam Turnbull (238), Sean Hussey (226, 258), Brett Armer (237, 257), Kieran Burden (257), Gavin Cox (220) and Alex Green (223, 226).
 
sq2g.jpgKiera Reay had a quieter start to the afternoon, then had second thoughts adding games of 268, 266, 256 and 243 to finish in first place with a pinfall of 4,595 (229.80 avg) and 350.00 points.  Franchesca Plewis added games of 228 before having to withdraw before game 18.  Rebecca Daley added a 253 game to finish in second with a pinfall of 4,118 (205.90 avg) and 288.00 points.  Samantha Sargent moved n third place after game 19 after adding games of 214 and 212, a total pinfall of 4,027 (201.90 avg) and 279.50 points.
 
Other noteable scores included Jenny Lofty (230), Becca Luke (228), Rebecca Spiking (236), Jessica Montgomery (226), Samantha Sargent (225), Katie Tagg (227, 221), Joanna Hackett (245) and Lorna Scott (223).
