UK Championships 2015

written by Neil Warland

The last ever UK Championships were held in December with Kirstie Allison from Excel YBC Sunderland and Brandon Roberts from Nuneaton Vipers claiming this year’s crown. The UK championships were open for bowlers in their final year of JTE, but with the introduction of the YTE tour, this tournament will now been superseded.

The tournament, played at MFA Nottingham, was competed for by 8 boys and 5 girls. Bowlers played an 8 game qualifier before the top three in each division progressed to a step ladder final.

Kirstie Allison qualified in first place for the girls with a 217 average; Chantelle Russell and Jessica Aquino also progressed to the finals.  Brandon Roberts qualified in first place for the boys with a 209 average; Brett Armer and Thomas Copeland also progressed to the finals.  In the semi-final, Chantelle beat Jessica and Thomas beat Brett setting up the finals of Kirstie v Chantelle and Brandon v Thomas.

Kirstie and Brandon both prevailed, with each bowler winning £250 worth of bowling vouchers to be used against tournament entry fees for next season. Congratulations to you both.
