Kettering, England: English youth bowler Evie Giddens was recently crowned Kettering Borough Young Sportswoman of the Year for 2015.

"This is a wholly well deserved award for the young aspiring and talented ten-pin bowler from Kettering YBC who over the past few years has consistently improved her JTE Ranking points. Evie was up against six other talented Young Sportswomen for 2015 and the Kettering Borough felt her worthy of the Title due to such a successful year in her sport."

"This year Evie has demonstrated that she can achieve great things.  Her most notable achievements include the award of High Game at U15 Junior Inter Counties as well as having the highest average for the day amongst her peers.  Evie also placed 2nd at the U16 Junior Triple Crown Trials earning her a well deserved place on U16 Junior Team England -  winning a Gold and 2 Bronze Medals out in Tallaght, Dublin with her Team mates!  On Evie's return she took part in the Masters at Tolworth when she placed 6th in a field of the Top 20 U18 bowlers in England.  All of these achievements have inspired her to work even harder so that she can one day represent England in Europe."

Evie is a quiet and unassuming young lady, surprising many people recently when she decided to "Brave The Shave" for Macmillan Cancer Support!  This is what she said before she actually did it:

"Recently I decided to take part in Brave The Shave as my Mum has often talked about how Macmillan helped her through her battle with breast cancer. I believe it is a very worthy cause and wanted to give something back myself. Mum and Dad are very proud of me for doing this, so much so that Mum offered to do it with me! I hope to raise some much needed dosh to help others affected by cancer and to raise awareness among my own generation. I Thank you in advance for any donations, large or small, as they will help me reach my target and they are much appreciated."

Evie's final total amount raised was a whopping £835 and she would like to thank every one of the people who supported her "Brave Shave", who have sent her messages of support and continue to compliment her efforts when they see her on the JTE tour since she did the deed!

Julia Giddens, Evie's Mum says about her daughter, "Steve and I couldn't be prouder of Evie.  She is turning out to be a well grounded young lady, who often thinks of others before herself. We admire her courage, selflessness and beautiful nature and hope & believe she will aspire to achieve great things in the future.  I also personally want to thank friends and family alike who have taken time to support our family, we really do appreciate it."
